On 12 September 2012, Shanghai Electric Power Generation Group and Guodian Jiangsu Power Generation Co., Ltd signed the supply contract for main equipments of 2 × 1000MW ultra-supercritical coal-fired power generation double reheat units in Guodian Taizhou Power Plant Phase II demonstration project. This is China’s first batch of 1000 MW ultra-supercritical double reheat units, and also the only domestic thermal power unit which was the selected project under the 2012 National Science and Technology Support Program. Huang Ou, Chief Technology Officer of Shanghai Electric Group Company Limited and Executive Vice President of Shanghai Electric Power Generation Group; Tao Jianhua, General Manager of Guodian Jiangsu Power Generation Co., Ltd, and Zhang Shishan, Deputy General Manager of Guodian attended the signing ceremony.
The Guodian Taizhou Power Plant Phase II 1000MW ultra-supercritical double reheat project, being large capacity and high efficiency ultra-supercritical technology demonstration project in China, has strategic significance in speeding up the restructure on power segment, to achieve better economic and social benefits. The efficiency of generating unit has increased up to 47.94%, 0.94 percentage point higher than the efficiency rate of 47% achieved by the current most advanced double reheat power generation equipment; and also 2.12 percentage points higher than the 45.82% maximum efficiency of conventional single reheat power generation unit in China. The design of the power generating unit for coal consumption rate is 256.2g/kwh, less than 5g/kwh as compared to the best consumption rate in the world nowadays. The unit also consumes 10g/ kWh less in coal consumption and has lower CO2, SO2, NOx and dust emission than the conventional MW ultra-supercritical generators. The implementation of the project will further enhance the level of China’s thermal power technology and surpass the current world standard.
